Validation

Another of those healthy relationship skills that help us blossom and grow is validation. Validation is the act helping someone feel heard and understood. It helps calm fears – threats. It helps us connect. In short validation has basically two parts:

Identify a specific emotion

Offer justification for feeling that emotion.

Here’s a video that I enjoyed watching. I am sure that most of us will identify with one or both of the characters in this short video. And while fixing a problem has its place, validation also has its place. Often, someone is not ready to have things fixed until they feel validated. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
